Nagpur Multipurpose Social Service Society (NMSSS) is reflecting and acting upon the Global health crisis. The novel Coronavirus has set the world into lockdown. It is worrying to observe how the new disease has restricted social mobility globally. We as, the NMSSS team, took the initiative to serve the people affected by the COVID -19 lockdown in the Nagpur district. The Director of NMSSS, Fr. Balaraju, under the guidance of Most Rev. Elias Gonzales, Archbishop of Nagpur, acted promptly by reaching out to the poor and the needy in this critical moment. We sought permission of the local police to carry out this philanthropic task of distributing food packets for 700 families, irrespective of Caste, Creed and Color.
With Rani Paulose, Sister of St Joseph of Lyon, who serves in NMSSS there were some volunteers from different localities who helped to distribute the dry ration packages to the poor and deserving families of daily wage earners, migrant workers from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh who are stranded at their workplaces, and several families benefited from this noble service..
